Joan Collins Gutted By Death Of Younger Sister Jackie Collins From Breast Cancer
Though they were two English sisters, Jackie and Joan Collins were happily adopted by fans of the United States, Joan for her role on the hit show Dynasty, and Jackie for a salacious series of books which pulled back the curtain on the power brokers in Hollywood.
Novelist Jackie Collins has died after over a six-year battle with breast cancer. Sadly, her sister Joan only found out about her fight two weeks ago, according to People Magazine. Despite keeping her cancer a secret, the sisters were very close.
“She was my best friend, ” Joan, 82, said. “I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her.”
Incredibly, Joan Collins suspected nothing.
“She was very shocked,” Jackie told People of Joan’s reaction to the news. “She had no idea. But she was great. We were emotional.”

The Daily Mail is reporting that Joan Collins is “completely devastated” by the loss of her sister. Joan has publicly been very candid about her sister’s life.
“She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
Other celebrities, including Oprah, Roger Moore, and Sandra Bullock have publicly spoken about how much of a loss they feel with the passing of Collins.

Jackie Collins told the Mirror that she didn’t tell her sister Joan until recently because she didn’t want to “burden her.”
“Because it would have really affected her. I just felt she didn’t need it in her life. She’s very positive and very social but I’m not sure how strong she is, so I didn’t want to burden her with it.”
The sisters thought of each other as best friends.
