WWE News, Rumors: Full Card For Sunday’s ‘Night Of Champions’ And Rumored Surprises
WWE is going to hold their annual Night of Champions event this Sunday, and it’s one that has a lot of strength to the card. All WWE title belts will be on the line and there are some additional matches thrown in as well. The biggest news, of course, is Sting having his first-ever WWE World Title opportunity, but there are plenty of other possible surprises in store including a mystery partner that has yet to be revealed.
Sting will indeed be taking on Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title, but Rollins will be far from done with that one match. He is pulling double-duty on Sunday and will also defend the United States Title against John Cena at some point in the night.
A few matches have been known for some time, but there are others that have just been confirmed within this last week. One of those is Ryback vs. Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Title. It’s one that has been teased for a while now, but just recently confirmed as reported in the final card by the Huffington Post.
After his feud with John Cena ended, many thought that Kevin Owens may end up demoted. Going from a feud for the U.S. Title to one for the IC belt isn’t really a demotion at all. It truly seems and feels as if Owens is going to get his first taste of WWE main event roster gold.
WrestleZone recapped SmackDown from Thursday night, and it was confirmed that the Cosmic Wasteland would be taking on Neville and the Lucha Dragons on Sunday night as well. It will officially be the kickoff match, but could be a launching pad for the Cosmic Wasteland as a serious heel stable.
The full card for Night of Champions is as follows:
WWE World Heavyweight Title: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Sting
United States Title: Seth Rollins (c) vs. John Cena
Divas Title: Nikki Bella (c) vs. Charlotte
Intercontinental Title: Ryback (c) vs. Kevin Owens
WWE Tag Team Titles: The New Day (c) vs. Dudley Boyz
Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler
The Wyatt Family vs. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Mystery Partner
Kickoff Match: Lucha Dragons & Neville vs. Cosmic Wasteland
A number of huge rumors are flying around as to what could end up happening on Sunday night, but it will be a few days to see what truly goes down. Here are just some of the big rumors going around for Night of Champions right now.
1. Sting will win the WWE Title and then Sheamus will run down to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and take the title away from “The Vigilante.”
2. Sting will win the WWE Title from Seth Rollins and then lose it back to him next month at Hell In A Cell.
3. The mystery partner of Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose could be anyone from Daniel Bryan to Erick Rowan to Randy Orton or Baron Corbin or Kane or even Chris Jericho. Lots of guesses are being made right now, but WWE wanted to wait until the PPV to announce who it will be.
Night of Champions has been built up in a big way by WWE, and it’s going to be a great event that will surely bring the house down on Sunday night. The final card is in place and all matches are set, but only time will tell what rumors end up coming true — if any at all.
