Maru The Cat Turns Five, Celebrates With New Box [Video]

The internet loves cats. Maru is a cat. The internet loves Maru. It’s simple science.

But there are plenty of things to love about Maru other than the fact that he’s a cat. Maru also loves boxes.

The cat became an internet sensation after a few Youtube videos appeared on-line showing the Japanese cat stuffing himself into bags, boxes, and other tight spaces.

Maru’s videos have been viewed millions of times, he has over 10,000 Facebook fans and more than 15,000 followers on Twitter. The cat also has his own blog and has been interviewed by prestigious sites like lovemeow.com.

Maru said:

“Sleep, eat, and play. My hooman always says that I live a life that everybody envies… I don’t know why (I love boxes so much) but I can’t seem to stop going into a box when I see one. It just gets me so excited!

To celebrate his fifth birthday, Maru got a new toy, fancy white meat, some cake, and a slim box. (You can check out photos here.) He also uploaded a new video to Youtube.
