‘American Ninja Warrior’ Finally Has A Winner

American Ninja Warrior wrapped up its seventh season Monday evening, and while many simply watch the show for the thrill of seeing who will go out on the infamous Mt. Midoriyama, tonight became a moment to remember for the hit NBC show.

For those of you who don’t watch the show, American Ninja Warrior is a show based on the Japanese game show Sasuke. The show features athletes from all walks of life as they compete to try and complete multiple obstacle courses to advance to the finals where they will run through a four-stage obstacle course with 23 different, and very physically taxing obstacles. Now for those of you who have the show waiting for you on your DVR, please be warned, there are spoilers ahead!

Tonight was the finale of season seven of the popular show, American Ninja Warrior, and it was something to behold! Thousands of skilled athletes fought for a chance to make it to the Los Vegas finals and for a chance to win a grand prize of $1 million, and while the previous six seasons of the show resulted in no one conquering the four-stage obstacle course, this year proved to be the year in which someone would take home the title.

According to Entertainment Tonight, this year was special for American Ninja Warrior for two reasons: not only was someone crowned the winner of the course, but there were actually two finishers! It reportedly came down to 36-year old Geoff Britten and 33-year-old Isaac Caldiero.

Each athlete fought hard to make it through to the final obstacle, a 75-foot rope climb in 30 seconds. According to USA Today, it came down to mere seconds, but ultimately, it was Isaac Caldiero who was crowned America’s first Ninja Warrior, despite the fact that Geoff Britten completed the course first. What sealed the deal? Caldiero was three seconds faster than Britten, so Caldiero was crowned the winner.

So we know that Caldiero has won the title of America’s first Ninja Warrior, but what about Britten? Despite the fact that his final time was a few seconds slower than Caldiero’s some are wondering what Britten get’s for finishing the course. American Ninja Warrior producer talked with Entertainment Weekly, and had the following to say.

“He got to be one of the first American Ninja Warriors. According to the rules there’s only one winner. We talked to NBC about it, we might make adjustments next season, but we didn’t plan for a second finisher.”
