Ellen Page Walks Red Carpet With Girlfriend Samantha Thomas At Freeheld Premiere
Ellen Page walked the red carpet with her new girlfriend, Samantha Thomas, at the Freeheld premiere. The couple joined other stars promoting their recent projects at the annual Toronto International Film Festival.
Ellen Page and Samantha Thomas looked amazing in their tuxedo ensembles as they made their first appearance together on the red carpet at the Freeheld premiere Sunday. Page looked stunning in her Saint Laurent outfit complete with tight black pants, black boots and skinny tie.
Page told E!News she couldn’t be happier with her new girlfriend.
I’m in love. Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special. It’s pretty awesome.
Thomas, an artist specializing in oil paintings along with modern abstracts and structural pieces, loves to surf and can often be found riding the waves in Malibu. Her appearance alongside Ellen Page during Sunday’s premiere sent best friend Ruby Rose gushing on Instagram, according to E!News
“When your best friend is the most talented, funny, beautiful, generous, humble human being it’s hard to not smile until it hurts. Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me.”
The movie Freeheld, in which Page stars alongside on-screen love interest Julianne Moore, highlights the inequality felt by gay and lesbian couples across the nation. Moore, playing a terminally ill police officer, is forced to fight New Jersey city hall to transfer her pension benefits to her young partner, played by Page.
Ellen Page made headlines recently for her surprise confrontation with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz over gay rights and religious liberty while the two were attending the Iowa State Fair, according to The Daily Beast.
“I’ve seen multiple videos and read multiple quotes of Ted Cruz discussing gay issues, as well as Mike Huckabee, and it goes exactly as you’d expect. They don’t answer the question. They say you’re cutting them off when you try to ask the same question again because they’re not answering it, because the reality is that they might be homophobic people. To me, it seems like they’re homophobic people.”
Meanwhile, other attendees at the Toronto film festival read like a who’s who in Hollywood, according to Popsugar.
Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso looked magically in love as they appeared together at the premiere of The Martian, while Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston appeared together supporting rumors the two will soon be a couple.
Meanwhile, longtime friends and co-stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock reunited for some laughs at the premiere of their new movie, Our Brand is Crisis.
Freeheld is due out in theaters Oct. 2.
