Body Of Missing Harvard Student Found In Portland Harbor

A two-day search for a missing Harvard student ended today as the body of Nathan Bihlmaier was pulled from Portland Harbor in Maine.

MSNBC reports that Bihlmaier was last seen on Saturday night at an Irish pub in Maine. The Harvard student was celebrating his approaching graduation and became so intoxicated that the bar asked him to leave. Bihlmaier left the bar and was never seen again.

Portland’s police chief Michael Sauschuck said:

“He was asked to leave [the pub] at about 12:20 in the morning for having a little bit too much to drink. At that point he left the bar very cooperative, there were no altercations.”

No foul play is suspected in the man’s death. Sauschuck added:

“There’s no evidence of anything nefarious… It’s a tragedy all the way around.”

The Boston Globe reports that Bihlmaier contacted his friends several times by phone after leaving the bar but was never able to find his way back to the group. When he didn’t show up to the hotel the following morning he was reported missing.

Harvard Business School said in a statement:

“This is a very sad day for all of us at Harvard Business School. There is a tremendous sense of community here, of camaraderie among students, faculty, and staff. We are all in a state of shock and grief, and our hearts and prayers go out to Nate’s family at this terrible time.”

Bihlmaier, 31, was set to graduate this week. He leaves behind a pregnant wife.
