Rihanna ‘R8’ Album Rumors: Travis Scott, Charli XCX Writing New Songs For ‘BBHMM’ Singer?

Rihanna may be heating up dating rumors with rapper Travis Scott, but is the duo taking their budding romance to the studio?

According to new reports, Travis Scott and Charli XCX may appear on Rihanna’s highly anticipated eighth studio album.

After rumors suggested that Rihanna has scrapped all work on her new album, tentatively titled R8, in favor of chasing a new sound, British singer-songwriter Charlli XCX reveals that Rihanna has called on her to draft some last-minute hits for her new album.

In an interview with 3am, via Mirror, Charli XCX explains, “I’m a really big Rihanna fan and I think she’s such an incredible artist. She’s my favorite pop girl. She’s the real deal.”

The “Boom Clap” songstress goes on to explain that she’s been working on penning some new songs for R8, revealing, “I’ve actually been to a couple of writing sessions for Rihanna’s new record. It was really fun to put together a couple of tracks.”

The news comes just weeks after sources alleged to the site that Rihanna is searching for British talent to help her bring a new sound to the album.

A source explains, “Rihanna is desperate for an edgy sound that will appeal to a European market as well as America.”

“She’s keen to emulate the same smash-hit success she had with Calvin Harris’ ‘We Found Love’ in 2011. So far she doesn’t feel the songs she has are delivering the full package.”

The source continues, “Her people have put in calls with the best songwriters on their books and requested they drop everything to help.”

In regard to the writing camps Charli XCX spoke of, the source reveals, “Usually writing camps are set up where hundreds of songwriters are invited to spend a few days coming up with tracks for her. This time they’ve gone direct to guaranteed hit-makers as there’s no time to waste.”

The site also alleges that Rihanna has enlisted the help of rumored boyfriend and rapper Travis Scott to draft some hits for her upcoming album.

Rihanna and Scott ignited dating rumors earlier this week after they were spotted getting “cozy” following one of Scott’s performances in NYC. The duo were most recently spotted at Rihanna’s Roc Nation Block Party yesterday, where onlookers admit the duo looked very much like a couple.

Despite the rumors, neither Rihanna nor Charli XCX have confirmed an official title or release date for the new project.

Rihanna previously explained to New York Daily News that she’s excited to drop the new project.

“New album is going really, really great. We have recorded a lot of songs and I can’t wait to finish and put it out. That’s my next step.”
