WWE Comments On NXT Diva’s Offensive Tweets

Less than two weeks after the WWE cut ties with controversial developmental talent Zahra Schreiber for controversial social media posts, Nhooph Al-Areebi has also come under fire for posts she made years ago.

Al-Areebi, who performs for NXT as Jasmin, deleted her Twitter account after a Reddit SquaredCircle post brought several of her racially insensitive comments to light.

Al-Areebi is 20-years-old, so many of the tweets and posts were made before she was even an adult. Despite this, she’s been hit from all angles as the latest WWE-contracted talent to be caught saying ignorant things on social media.

A few of the tweets in question include her asking a Twitter user why “black people were so horny” in response to a rather weird guy asking to lick between her toes to “get the salt glue off.” Only in professional wrestling.

Another post on Twitter in 2011 saw her call a user “nigha lips.” Finally, a 2014 Instagram post saw her hoisted up by Preston Myles and carried to the ring.

Al-Areebi said, “My slave Preston Myles needs to stop acting like I weigh 200 lbs! Someone buy me a whip plz!”

Al-Areebi had also responded to some other racially based tweets in agreement, which also surfaced.

Al- Areebi has been a pro wrestler since January 2013. She’s appeared for the likes of Squared Circle Wrestling, Pure Wrestling Association, and Absolute Intense Wrestling.

She signed with WWE in March of 2015 and appeared on screen as an extra in Tyler Breeze’s entrance during NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable in May. The Canadian Al-Areebi portrays an Arabian gimmick and was trained by former TNA Knockout Taylor Wilde.

While she hasn’t debuted on NXT TV, Al-Areebi has been performing on NXT’s live events, where she typically is a part of six-person tag team matches.

WWE acknowledged her presence on their official website, as they conducted an exclusive Q&A with her just a couple of months ago. During the interview, Al-Areebi said that coming to NXT was “like Disney Land.”

WWE issued a statement to WrestlingInc.com, saying that they’d conducted an investigation.

“WWE conducted a thorough investigation and has determined that Nhooph Al-Areebi’s (aka Jasmin) Twitter account was used without her knowledge when she was 16 and 17 years old. Jasmin remains apologetic for any offensive remarks that were made.”

It’s difficult to believe that Al-Areebi’s social media was hacked several times over several years, but it appears the situation will be swept under the rug.

What do you all think? Should Al-Areebi have punished for her insensitive tweets, or should the whole situation be chalked up to “kids being kids” or even hacked? The WWE has had a pretty stiff, zero-tolerance policy on the issues of late. While the tweets in question were nowhere near as extreme as the things uncovered regarding WWE Hall of Famer, or Seth Rollins’ girlfriend Zahra Schreiber, it will be interesting to see if Nhooph Al-Areebi is reprimanded.
