‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Ellen Pompeo Teases Owen’s Love Life, Who Is He Moving In With In Season 12?
As Grey’s Anatomy enters Season 12, it appears as though romance will be a major theme for the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial. With that in mind, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) will be making his home with someone on the show, but that someone is not Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).
According to Entertainment Weekly, Shonda Rhimes revealed that although Owen and Amelia will remain interested in each other in the coming season, Owen will move in with someone unexpected.
While it is not known with whom Owen will decide to move in, two likely candidates are found in Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). As fans may recall, Arizona and Callie had their differences in Season 11 and are no longer a couple.
According to Design & Trend, another possible candidate for Owen’s new roommate includes Jackson (Jesse Williams), who has been having relationship difficulties of his own with April (Sarah Drew).
Even though Owen is not set to move in with Amelia at the start of the season, the two are clearly still a thing. In fact, in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Scorsone discussed her character’s feelings for Owen.
“He’s out of the wheelhouse that she’s comfortable with; he’s an adult. He can equal in his tragedy and loss and yet he’s persevering in a way that she is. There’s a level of respect that she is surprised by,” she stated.
Meanwhile, with Owen not ready to move in with Amelia just yet, the latter is set to join Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary) in their home in Season 12. Speaking of Meredith, Pompeo will be facing unchartered waters as she moves on following the death of her husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
Although many have speculated that Rhimes will be introducing a new love interest for Meredith, Pompeo recently addressed the issue, stating that her character is more than capable of leading the show all by herself.
“It’s like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show. But somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone,” Pompeo explained in the interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Why can’t I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can’t I be on that poster by myself?”
While more details concerning the new season begin to surface, fans can watch all the drama unfold when Season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres September 24 on ABC.
