Korean Star Yoon Eun Hye Faces Allegations Of Plagiarism For Her Clothing Design On ‘The Goddesses’ New Outfit
Recently, Korean entertainment has been plagued by allegations of plagiarism, especially when it comes to K-dramas. Just this year, the trailer for The Time We Were Not In Love (formerly known as The Time That I Loved You, 7,000 Days) was accused of plagiarizing the short animated film, Jinxy Jenkins, Lucky Lou, and Yong Pal was accused of plagiarizing web comic City Conquest. And if one were to go further back, My Love From Another Star was also accused of plagiarism too.
The one detail about the aforementioned is the plagiarism allegations directed towards K-dramas. Now, there is one pointed at Yoon Eun Hye. The famous Korean star is being accused of plagiarizing her clothing designs for Chinese show The Goddesses’ New Outfit.
Translated from Korean news outlet Dispatch, similarities between Yoon Eun Hye’s award-winning dress and a piece created by Korean designer Yoon Choon Ho were examined. As shown in the side-by-side comparison below, it is possible that the sleeve design might have been copied.
Yoon Choon Ho made a statement about Yoon Eun Hye’s dress in which he thought it as a sponsored piece on a Chinese show, as reported by KdramaStars. However did not say Eun Hye’s dress was straight-up plagiarism but only alluded to its possibility.
Either it be plagiarism or not, Yoon Eun Hye did win the premiere of The Goddesses’ New Outfit second season with the designed dress in question. As for its inspiration, Eun Hye cites The Chronicles of Narnia series for the design, possibly from the outfit Tilda Swinton wore when she played Jadis the White Witch in Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
