‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ — Everything We Know So Far
Although Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been a few years in the making, fans can rest assured knowing the movie is firmly set for a spring 2016 premiere. With only a trailer and a few photo stills to go by, what can fans expect to see when the film hits theaters?
For starters, the storyline in Batman v Superman is directly tied to the events at the end of Man of Steel. In fact, according to Den of Geek, Man of Steel was intended to start a new series of movies in the DC Comics cinematic universe.
With that in mind, the actions of Superman in Man of Steel and the destruction of much of the city is expected to be one reason why Batman (Ben Affleck) is going after Superman (Henry Cavill). However, as Batman tries to check the powers of Superman, who has become close to a god in the eyes of the public, a new threat surfaces.
In order to combat the new threat, Batman v Superman is expected to introduce a number of new characters, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Although few details are known about her storyline, her inclusion in the movie will be the first time Wonder Woman has been portrayed on the big screen, and the first time her character has appeared in any live-action format since 1979.
According to Cinema Blend, other superheroes that are expected to be in the film include Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), with the possibility that The Flash and the villain Doomsday might be making an appearance as well. Additionally, Lois Lane (Amy Adams), Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons), and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will also be included in the movie.
Meanwhile, both Affleck and Cavill are set to appear in their roles as Batman and Superman, respectively. Although fans already know what to expect with Cavill’s Superman based on his performance in Man of Steel, this is the first time for Affleck as the caped crusader.
In contrast to recent portrayals of the character, Affleck’s Batman is set to be an older, more seasoned version. In addition to a more rugged looking suit, Batman will also be roaming around in a new rendition of the Batmobile. The vehicle comes equipped with a.50 caliber machine gun, can reach speeds of over 200 mph, and, of course, comes with all the bells and whistles required for Batman to cruise the streets undetected.
With all the new characters set to be introduced and the expanded storyline, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is expected to thrill fans when it hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
