Maroon 5 Greatest Hits Album ‘Singles’ Missing Numerous Songs, Will Fans Buy It?
Maroon 5 is coming out with their very first greatest hits album, but the compilation will be missing some of the band’s greatest hits of all time.
Maroon 5 announced the new album on September 1 through their Twitter account and on their website. The album is set to be released September 25 through Interscope Records.
The album will be missing some greatest hits from the early Maroon 5 years, as well as more recent smash hits. According to Digital Spy, the album will be missing “Harder to Breathe” and “Sunday Morning” from their first album Songs About Jane, released in 2002. A hit from 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long with Rihanna will not be included on the album as “If I Never See Your Face Again” has been excluded from the compilation.
As well, the Maroon 5 favorite from this year “This Summer Gonna Hurt Like A MotherF***er” will not be found on the greatest hits album.
The move is coming before Maroon 5 heads on a world tour. The album will be released immediately before the Australian leg of the tour, Noise 11 reported. Those tour dates include stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.
Prior to album dropping, Maroon 5 will be stopping in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Billboard is also reporting that Maroon 5 will be touring Latin America in 2016. The 12-stop tour will include concerts in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.
The current Maroon 5 album V recently surpassed the 1 million mark in copies sold, according to Billboard. The album surpassed the mark at the end of July, making it the fifth Maroon 5 album to sell at least 1 million copies.
The album also will not include any hit songs that Adam Levine, the Maroon 5 front man, worked on without the band. Levine currently has a top 10 hit with R. City in “Locked Away” and has had other top songs that will not be featured on the album.
A fan website for Maroon 5 listed the tracks on the new album.
1. “This Love”
2. “Payphone”
3. “She Will Be Loved”
4. “One More Night”
5. “Moves Like Jagger” (featuring Christina Aguilera)
