Google Chrome Now Comes With Battery Saving Features
Google Chrome is the browser of choice for many internet users. However, the browser is notorious for draining the battery from laptops.
Chrome’s users are vocal about the draining effect of their choice browser on the utility of their laptops. Compared to other browsers like Safari, Chrome can drain an extra three to four hours from a computer’s batter life.
Although Google Chrome was initially one of the most memory conservative browsers, the features added over time have transformed the browser into an energy succubus no matter what device it is used on.
Despite these complaints, Google Chrome remains the browser of choice for many internet browsers. This is because so many people rely on Google services. Whether they need access to their Gmail, GoogleDocs, or a Google Play Music subscription, there is no better way to live life for Google users than through the company’s all-inclusive web browser. Many blogs have discussed the benefits of using the browser.
But regardless users use machines that run Windows or Mac, they are affected by a constantly affected by a draining battery. Despite the longstanding complaints, Google never appeared to listen.
Some suggest that Google knows its users rely on Chrome and are willing to use the browser despite the loss of battery life. Knowing that its customers are not going anyway does not incentivize Google to prioritize the development of power-saving features.
Finally, Google has updated Chrome with new features that will help alleviate these problems. One feature pauses Flash content in situations where it is inessential. Flash kills the battery on any device. Pausing it should reduce power consumption on most devices.
Battery consumption is not the only thing the new updates will improve. Some of its new features will help the browser run faster than ever before.
Google Chrome’s new features will save a few time on certain tasks. The new update will now allow browsers to update the last tabs that a user looked at rather than all of the open tabs. This will help the browser reboot faster.
Google hopes that these new features will help decrease memory usage by 10 percent and help batteries last 15 percent longer.
Current users can update their browsers to include these new features by clicking on the “Update Google Chrome” option in the browser menu. Otherwise, Google says it will roll out the updates on a large scale over the next several weeks.
