Avril Lavigne And Chad Kroeger Split Three Days After Her Ex Deryck Whibley Weds
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have split after two years of marriage, three days after her ex-husband Deryck Whibley remarried.
The “Complicated” singer and Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback, revealed their separation on Instagram on Wednesday, September 2.
“It is with a heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” Lavigne wrote alongside a picture from their wedding day. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger first started dating in 2012 after they worked together on Avril’s fifth studio album. They shocked everyone in 2013 when they announced they were engaged after only a month of dating. They tied the knot several months later at the Chateau de La Napoule in the South of France.

Since the beginning of their marriage, rumors have circulated about the couple’s relationship, with Radar Online reporting last fall that their marriage was “on the rocks” over Avril’s desire to have children.
“She wants a baby and he does not right now because he is about to go on tour,” a source revealed. “The fighting is not something that they can hide anymore.”
Avril was previously married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. While Avril’s marriage is falling apart, Deryck has apparently moved on with his life, and tied the knot with his fiancé, Ariana Cooper, on Sunday, August 31. The couple wed during an intimate ceremony at the Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills.

“It was a chill and intimate ceremony,” a source told People Magazine. “They had a violin play at the ceremony and the music was mellow, not typical rock that Deryck’s band plays, which was surprising.”
Last year, Whibley had quite the health scare after he collapsed in his kitchen and had to be rushed to the hospital, where he was told his organs had failed due to extreme alcohol abuse. Whibley is now sober, and feeling healthier than ever.

“There are so many exciting things now,” he told Vice earlier this year. “So many things are new for me. I’d never done anything sober … Now there’s this whole world out there and things I’m realizing I’ve never done. I wouldn’t say I missed out on anything, just more like, things were set aside until this point in my life.”
