Donna Summer Believed 9/11 Attacks Gave Her Cancer
In an even sadder twist to the illness that took disco queen Donna Summer’s life at 63, it is now believed that the singer blamed the attacks on 9/11 for the cancer that eventually ended her life yesterday morning.
Donna Summer at the time of the attacks had an apartment not too far away from Ground Zero, where the attacks took place, and sources reveal to TMZ in the years following the attacks the singer became obsessed with breathing in fresh air.
Deney Terrio, the host of Dance Fever told TMZ that when Donna was in his presence she “would hang silk sheets in her dressing room to prevent dust from coming in.” Oddly enough, Summer is said to have believed that 9/11 was an attack on Christianity, being a devout Christian herself, she was convinced the attacks were a direct hit on the Christian community, and in some metaphysical way Christians were the main target.
While ill it is said that Donna Summer was in denial that her smoking contributed to her lung cancer. Several people had told the singer that her longtime smoking was probably a factor, but Summer still thought despite her smoking and being around people in clubs who also smoked, that the attacks of 9/11 was a major contributing factor in her getting lung cancer.
Donna Summer is survived by her husband/singer of 32 years, Bruce Sudano, and three children, Mimi, actress Brooklyn and singer Amanda.
