In the midst of many fan favorites returning to Days of Our Lives over the coming months, there are some big fresh additions on the way, as well. Rumors had been swirling, and now it has been confirmed that soap opera veteran Vincent Irizarry will be heading to Salem soon. What’s known about this casting coup so far?
A serial killer is on the loose in Salem, and the show has teased that several characters will meet their demise on the way to the show’s 50th anniversary this fall. Characters such as Patch, Bo, Belle, Shawn, Sami, and Andre are heading back into the mix of things, but now Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that some fresh faces will be stirring up drama in Salem, as well.
Serial Scoop shares that Vincent Irizarry is heading to DOOL, as had been hinted, and it seems he will have some serious family connections. The site indicates that Irizarry will be the younger brother of a show regular and he’s heading to Salem seeking revenge.
Days of Our Lives spoilers from Yahoo! TV indicate that Irizarry’s character will have “strong connections to the Kiriakis family.” According to TVLine , Vincent will play a character named Deimos. Just who is Deimos, who is he targeting, and how will he factor into the chaos coming up in Salem? The show isn’t sharing much else in the way of specifics quite yet.
Not long ago, Stephen Nichols, Galen Gering, and Kristian Alfonso had teased some juicy Days of Our Lives spoilers that there was someone big and shocking on set taping these days. They said they couldn’t reveal any specifics, but fans had a lot of fun speculating about who might be the person involved.
While it’s not known if the trio might have been referring to Irizarry, it seems he is already taping, so this is one possibility. However, many fans suspect that the show could be bringing back a big fan favorite who has been off the show for a while, and that may well still be the case. Because Days of Our Lives tapes about six months ahead, it seems that Irizarry’s character of Deimos won’t begin airing until early 2016.
Irizarry has been a staple in the soap industry for years now. He played David Hayward on All My Children, and Dr. Scott Clark on Santa Barbara . The actor played twins Lujack and Nick on Guiding Light, and was on The Young and the Restless with the character of David Chow.
Now that the Days of Our Lives casting news has been made official, Irizarry has shared the news via his Facebook page. He says he is thrilled to be playing this character and notes that the scripts have been wonderful. Whatever it is the writers have in store for Vincent, he’s clearly jazzed about what lies ahead.
While fans won’t know for a while yet how long the soap vet will be sticking around Salem, it sounds like there’s a juicy storyline ahead involving this Kiriakis-connected character.
