A lot of the drama during this season of the Real Housewives of Orange County has centered on Vicki Gunvalson and her boyfriend, Brooks Ayers. With the couple now confirming their break-up, did infidelity and cheating have anything to do with their split?
In an official statement to Us Weekly , the two remained elusive about specific reasons for ending their relationship.
“After much prayer, thought, counseling, and consideration, we have decided to end our four year relationship. We both wish nothing but a great future for each other,” the statement read. “We have come to realize that one can indeed love someone in their heart, but that the time may come for their lives to take separate paths. Though the remaining episodes of season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County will show us as a couple, the filming took place in January 2015 through May 2015. There will be no further statements or interviews regarding our relationship as we choose to move on with our lives. Though we choose to live our lives in the public eye, we thank you for your understanding and ask privacy during this difficult time.”
Last year — after a few break-ups and make-ups — Vicki confronted the rumors about Brooks being unfaithful to People magazine. (Ayers had been videotaped talking about cheating on Gunvalson by a business associate, who later sold the tapes.)
At the time, Vicki Gunvalson claimed that “Brooks can date anyone he wants to. I am not married to Brooks, nor engaged – nor are we living together.”
Since the scandal, Vicki and Brooks seemed to get more serious, especially after Ayers’ cancer diagnosis, which has been a major plot line on this season of the Real Housewives of Orange County .
The news of a possible cheating scandal comes after the fight between Gunvalson and co-star Meghan King Edmonds has been reaching new heights in recent episodes of the reality show. In fact, their feud over whether or not Ayers is lying about his cancer diagnosis continued during Tamra Judge’s sex party in the latest episode of the show.
Although Judge told the pair not to bring up Ayers during the event, the two couldn’t resist. As their argument started to escalate, Edmond’s husband, Jim, even got in the mix, with Gunvalson telling him “Talk to me in five years when you’re divorced.”
With the drama between the two continuing to ramp up, it is unclear what will happen to the co-stars as the show heads into the last portion of the season.
