Wayne Dyer Dead At 75: Three Important Ideas From The Best-Selling Self-Help Guru
Wayne Dyer died Saturday at the age of 75. He’d been diagnosed with leukemia in 2009 but, as reported in the New York Times, a spokesperson for Hay House, publisher of Dyer’s books, has said the cause was a heart attack. His family confirmed his death with a heartfelt message on his Facebook page.

The self-help guru may have left this earth, but Dyer also left behind a small library’s worth of multimedia filled with practical spiritual guidance touted by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins and Deepak Chopra. Here are three key life lessons Wayne extolled.
Change Must Happen From The Inside Out
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
A lot of us, when we encounter problems in our lives tend to look for outside reasons as to why they’re happening — I was late for work because there was too much traffic on the road, I got fired because my boss never liked me; that kind of thing. But what Dyer suggested was that the only way to truly change is to look within for the answer.

Transform Your Life With A Change Of Mindset
“Not only do you become what you think about, but the world also becomes what you think about. Those who think that the world is a dark place are blind to the light that might illuminate their lives. Those who see the light of the world view the dark spots as merely potential light.”
Once you have worked on yourself from the inside out, then, in order to transform where you are in your life, Dyer advises you to control the power of your mind and what you think about.

Your Reality Is Controlled By No One But You
“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.”
Looking within and focusing your thoughts are all well and good, but Dyer recommends taking responsibility for where you are in your life and making choices about how to feel and what to do about that in order to make a lasting change.

Dyer made many appearances with Oprah, but in the clip below, he talks about the art of manifestation and how it’s all about who you are, “I will attract into my life what I am, not what I want.”
The world has lost a soulful man in Wayne Dyer, but he has left a legacy that will be around for many generations to come.
