Nicki Minaj Calls Out Miley Cyrus: What Did Miley Say To Make Her Mad?

Nicki Minaj brought some serious drama to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night when she called out host Miley Cyrus for a recent interview, where she said some not so flattering things about the female rapper.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nicki Minaj won the award for Best Hip-Hop Video at the VMAs. It looked like all was going to be sweet and nice as Minaj thanked her pastor in her speech.

“You know who I want to thank tonight? My pastor. I love you so much.”

However, after thanking the man who helps her in her spiritual journey, she immediately ignited a feud with the show’s host, Miley Cyrus, by throwing serious shade at the controversial singer.

“And now, back to this b—- that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley what’s good?”

Miley, who was standing only a few feet away on another part of the stage, fired right back and kept the show rolling.

“Hey, we’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s—. Nicki, congratulations.”

The camera cut back to Nick Minaj yelling “Don’t play with me, b—-” back at Miley Cyrus as the show continued to roll on.

What started this now epic feud to play out on live television? The Washington Post claims that it was Miley Cyrus’ comments about Nicki Minaj’s rant over not being nominated because of her race and/or body type, a comment that also led Nicki to a mini beef with Taylor Swift, which was quickly squashed.

“People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way. If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it. […] If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.’

“I know you can make it seem like, ‘Oh I just don’t understand because I’m a white pop star. I know the statistics. I know what’s going on in the world… But to be honest, I don’t think MTV did that on purpose.

“What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about.”

Of course, with Miley Cyrus hosting the VMAs, there was more than one controversial moment. After Nicki Minaj called the host out, Kanye West took the stage and had some interesting things to say, such as how MTV basically exploited his interruption of Taylor Swit’s moment to get ratings and that he wants to run for president in 2020.

At the end of the show, Cyrus had a nip slip when she was shown on camera hiding behind a curtain while changing for her show-ending performance, which was her new song that included lyrics about her love of smoking pot.

It was an interesting night for Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and Taylor Swift, the night’s biggest winner as well. However, many fans would be surprised if Miley hosted again next year.
