Rolling Stone recently spoke about how the duo came together so many years ago, noting that they weren’t even close until the 1970’s.
“Nelson and Haggard met at a poker game at Nelson’s Nashville house in 1964, when both were struggling songwriters. (Neither would have major success until they left Nashville behind; Nelson for Austin, Haggard for Bakersfield, California.) They didn’t become close until the late Seventies, when they were playing casinos in Reno.”
Before their tour officially kicks off, Nelson will be headlining the 30th edition Farm Aid on September 19 in Chicago along with fellow artists Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Imagine Dragons, Jack Johnson, and Kacey Musgraves.
Tickets to the concerts are now available through both Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard’s websites, as well as on Ticketmaster.
