Mariah Carey On Being Compared To Jordin Sparks, Things Getting Serious With Packer

Mariah Carey is an icon in the music world for a number of reasons. The diva can hit notes that only a select few singers internationally have the ability to master. Her talent spills over into music production and lively performances, as well as her lyric writing. Carey has earned the respect of her peers within the music industry over multiple decades.

Recently, Mariah’s remarkable abilities were compared to a younger performer, Jordin Sparks. Sparks, who got her big break on American Idol, has a stellar set of pipes; however, earlier this month when the New York Daily News proclaimed Jordin is “the next Mariah,” many began debating whether Sparks could live up to the massive title the publication handed her. Mimi, as Carey’s fans call her, has earned superstar status. Industry critics have shared that they find it unlikely that anyone, let alone Jordin Sparks, could ever truly hold a candle to Carey’s impact on the world of music.

The 25-year-old, “Right Here Right Now” singer shared her reaction to the compliment recently in an interview with The Breakfast Club at Power 105.1.

“My mom was listening to Mariah when she was pregnant with me, and so I feel like she’s been a part of my life my entire life. There’s a lot of her influence in the way I sing and what I really like to hear. So for somebody to say that is a real big compliment to me.”

Clearly the singer, who is promoting her latest album, is floored by the kind words delivered by the NY Daily News and admits Carey has been a part of her musical journey from the beginning. Carey has not commented on the comparison.

Mariah Carey is continuing to make her mark within the world of entertainment and most recently is set to star in the upcoming season of Empire. While the diva branches out in her career endeavors, reports suggest that she and boyfriend James Packer are getting more serious by the day. Rumors about a baby and an engagement have Mimi’s fans eagerly anticipating validation of these claims.

An insider recently shared with E! a comment on the obvious love the couple share for one another.

“[Mariah and James] are made for one another. It’s crazy how perfect they are together, they both know it and couldn’t be happier.”

The couple is currently enjoying a jet-setting adventure, which has taken them to several continents, including Europe.
