Alison Sweeney Exits ‘Biggest Loser’ And Dishes Weight Loss Diet Advice Plus ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Return [Video]
Alison Sweeney is leaving The Biggest Loser weight loss competition TV show. After serving as the chirpy, upbeat host for years, Alison has made the decision that it’s time to split. And the news comes after Sweeney also shared her exit from her long-running starring role on the soap opera, Days Of Our Lives, reported Variety.
The Biggest Loser will begin filming season 17 in September, and the producers praised Alison’s contributions.
“After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of The Biggest Loser next season,” confirmed the show’s execs.
In 2007, Season 4 marked the first time that Alison hosted. She took over for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch star Caroline Rhea.
Sweeney also devoted more than 20 years to Days Of Our Lives. Although she left that show in 2014, Alison will make a dramatic return in November to mark the show’s 50th anniversary.
After leaving Days of Our Lives, Sweeney has enjoyed using the free time for her children; 6-year-old Megan and 10-year-old Ben, reported People.
And Alison has set a goal of helping her children have a positive relationship with food after watching so many Biggest Loser contestants battle their weight, as well as struggling with body image.

“I hear so many parents still today who say things like, ‘Oh, my kid only eats chicken fingers,’ and, ‘Oh, I don’t want my daughter to have body image issues so I just don’t talk about food or bad food,’ ” mused Sweeney. “I feel the opposite, I feel we need to inform our children of why we’re saying, ‘You can’t have dessert tonight.’ ”
As a result, Alison tells her children why fast food is banned from their home.
“They put chemicals in [fast food] and they trick your brain into thinking it’s good, and my kids knew that for sure when they were like 4. I don’t mess around with that.”
Sweeney is excited about coming back to the soap opera, although she’s somewhat concerned about the long period of time since she’s had to memorize scripts as quickly as the pace on soap operas.
“I’m freaking out a little but am very excited to see my friends and be family again,” added Alison.
And even though she’s not returning to The Biggest Loser, Sweeney credits the show for helping her achieve her 30-pound weight loss goal, reported the Daily Mail.
“On my first day of Loser, I ended up in the lunch line in front of Jillian…I asked her for advice, and she rocked my world,” said Alison.
Sweeney subsequently learned how to diet in a healthy way, which also helped her educate her children later in life.
