WWE Rumors: One Main Event Star May Fight Two Matches At ‘Night Of Champions’
There is only one match confirmed and in place for WWE Night of Champions, but there will likely be at least five or six more put in place before it begins. Believe it or not, one main event superstar is rumored to be in at least two of those matches. Seth Rollins is already confirmed to take on Sting for the WWE World Heavyweight Title, but it’s very possible that he will also have to defend the United States Championship too.
Before their match at SummerSlam, rumor had it that the program between John Cena and Seth Rollins would continue for a while, no matter what the result was. Rollins ended up holding onto the WWE Title and winning the United States Title thanks to help from Jon Stewart.
Speaking of Stewart, he was attacked by John Cena last night on Monday Night Raw, and The Authority promptly had him taken away.
That led to the main event where The Authority was to present a bronze statue to Seth Rollins for winning both titles. Sting showed up instead and attacked Rollins which led to the WWE Title match being announced for Night of Champions.
The point of the Night of Champions event is for all the WWE titles to be on the line in one evening. Rollins is currently holding the United States Title as well, and it wouldn’t fit in with the Pay-Per-View if it wasn’t defended.
With that being said, this could be where John Cena comes into the picture. He likely won’t be added to the WWE Title match so that Sting can get his first ever shot at the belt, and focus in a one-on-one match.
Now, that doesn’t mean he won’t be on the card for Night of Champions though. As of now, WrestleZone reports that Vince McMahon isn’t too keen on having Rollins defend the United States Title at the event.
This means that he won’t defend both titles against Sting, but it doesn’t mean he won’t defend both titles on the card.
As Wrestling Inc. states, Rollins will likely pull double duty at Night of Champions and defending both titles, but in separate matches. On Monday Night Raw, Cena went off about how upset he was that he couldn’t do the United States Open Challenge anymore.
With that, Rollins will probably be put into a match against Cena for the United States Title as well.
Night of Champions could very well see two matches that include Seth Rollins with one against Sting and another against John Cena. It’s going to be a fun card as it’s also expected that the newest member of The Wyatt Family and the returning Dudley Boyz will be on it as well.
