New York Knicks Trade Rumors: Brandon Jennings May Be Headed To The Knicks
The New York Knicks need stability at the point guard position if they plan to contend in the upcoming seasons. Jose Calderon, simply, will not get the job done, which has led to many rumors about his future with the New York Knicks. While Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com reports that a deal involving Calderon is not currently imminent, that does not mean that he won’t be dealt at some point during the season.
The New York Knicks could pursue a mid-season trade for Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings is young, filled with talent, and could bring electricity to the Knicks locker room. According to the Detroit Free Press, Brandon could be available for a trade during the season if Reggie Jackson excels as a starter. Brandon Jennings would be a great long-term investment for Carmelo Anthony.
A deal will not transpire before the season kicks off, as the Knicks want to see what they have at the point guard position. The New York Knicks currently have two other point guards on their roster: sophomore Langston Galloway and rookie Jerian Grant, both of whom the Knicks are highly optimistic about.
To start off the season, Calderon will most likely be the backup, since he is coming off an achilles injury.
The Detroit Pistons’ situation is much different. They have two talented point guards, when only one is necessary. Reggie Jackson looks to be in Detroit for the long term after signing a massive extension during the offseason. The Knicks would gladly take Jennings off of their hands.

The New York Knicks have been linked to many point guards during the offseason. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the New York Knicks may make a mid-season trade involving Ricky Rubio, since the Minnesota Timberwolves have grown tired of his production.
Eric Bledsoe and Jennings are in very similar situations, as Bledsoe must battle for playing time from Brandon Knight. Knight signed a contract worth $70 million over five years this offseason.
The New York Knicks front office will keep an eye on the trade market once the season begins, and Jose Calderon will be the first made available if a deal were to arise.
Do you think the New York Knicks will make a transaction in order to acquire Brandon Jennings? If not, what other moves do you see the Knicks making this season? Finally, how do you see New York faring this season, after finishing last in the eastern conference with a record of 17-65 and drafting Kristaps Porzingis?
