Joy Behar Back To ‘The View’: Season 19 Brings Fan Favorite Back Into The Fold
The View’s Joy Behar is returning to the show as a permanent co-host again. Many fans have missed having Behar as one of the show’s hosts, and it seems that those behind the show have found a way to bring her back. There have been a lot of shake-ups on the hosting panel over the past couple of years, and it seems that producers are shaking things up again for the new season premiering this fall. What’s the scoop?
Joy Behar’s View return comes in the wake of a tumultuous season that brought on Rosie O’Donnell for a second round, in addition to Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. Then, the show said farewell to all of them before Season 19. The prior season ended with the departures of both Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd, along with Barbara Walters bidding farewell to the show she’d been involved with creating.
As Deadline reports, Behar will be sitting alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone, Michelle Collins, Paula Faris, and Candace Cameron Bure as official co-hosts this fall. In addition, a slate of guest contributors are lined up to appear throughout the new season.
Former regular co-host Sherri Shepherd is returning, and at this point it seems she will be around for about 50 episodes. Also slated to stop by as guest contributors are Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, What Not to Wear star Stacy London, Molly Sims, and others. While there had been talk that former co-host Nicolle Wallace was offered the chance to do some guest appearances this season, as well, now it has been said she will not be back with the show at all.
According to ABC News, Behar says she’s “happy to be back home.” Joy was one of the original View co-hosts when the show began, but she departed in 2013 to pursue other opportunities. Behar jokes that just when she thought she was out of the grasp of the show, they pulled her back in again.
Obviously, Behar will have plenty to comment on as the 2016 presidential election heats up. She’ll surely have a lot related to Donald Trump to mention, and she’s never one to hold back. Joy has already teased that with Donald and Hillary Clinton in the spotlight, she’s itching to share her thoughts via the show.
Some wonder just how this will work with such a full slate of co-hosts, a bigger group than has been typical of past seasons. Given the challenges the show has faced over the past couple of seasons, shaking things up in this way might be just what the show needs.
Just how will Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Paula Faris, Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron Bure, Raven-Symone, and the guest contributors all get along? The View fans can’t wait to find out when Season 19 premieres on September 8.
