Tiger Woods Joins The Cause For Faster Pace Of Play

It’s no secret that the game of golf requires a time commitment. However, Tiger Woods along with many other golfers are pleading for faster pace of play.

“Last week, we were playing 4:40 (on Thursday and Friday at Quail Hollow) and there’s no wind. That’s hard to believe.” says Woods in reference to round times.

The dissatisfaction with slow play on the tour has picked up in relevance as players have expressed their discontent with more voice than usual in light of Kevin Na’s battle with the “waggle’s”.

Na spent almost an entire minute approaching, stepping back, and re-approaching the ball during one shot at The Players Championship, providing frustration with viewers as well as fellow golfers.

The PGA Tour attempts to police the matter by issuing two separate warnings of falling behind the pace of play, though Woods believes in only one chance to mess up before being assessed a penalty.

“I think it’s very simple,” he said. “If you get a warning, you get a penalty. I think that would speed it up.”

Most players often ignore the fines associated with the penalty as the fines are only between $5,000 and $20,000, which many consider to be worth it when it comes to an important shot.

“Strokes is money,” Woods said. “I would take the five grand (fine) over the 800K. That’s one shot. That’s the difference. That’s what people don’t realize – that one shot is so valuable out here.”

Below is video evidence of Kevin Na and his issues with “pulling the trigger”.

Do you agree with Tiger and his feelings that the amount of time spent on a round of golf is getting out of hand?
