Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that a big murder mystery kicks off this coming week, and fans will have a wild ride heading into the 50th anniversary of the show in November. Many familiar faces return to Salem in the coming months, while there are other significant departures. Some actors with the show, however, are teasing that there are some surprises ahead, as well.
While many of the returning fan favorites have already been revealed, it seems there are some surprises in store, as well, as this murder mystery plays out. Stephen Nichols, Galen Gering, and Kristian Alfonso shared some Days of Our Lives spoiler teases at a recent event, details On Air On Soaps .
As the three discussed the fall returns, they mentioned someone who is back filming and it seems fans aren’t aware of this return at this point. Gering mentions having run into someone in the hall and being a bit stunned, while Nichols and Alfonso said that they couldn’t share any details, though they are bursting over the development.
There’s plenty of speculation about who this could be, but the show isn’t dishing out any details yet. While it may be a big-name actor who is stepping in for part of this storyline and anniversary fun, many suspect it’s a familiar face from the past.
Fans know that Freddie Smith just wrapped up airing as Sonny Kiriakis, and it seems there are some rumors that he’s already returning. The show tapes six months ahead, so that may be possible, but not necessarily likely to be the person these three thought was such a shocker.
Another popular guess, in the vein of past fan favorites returning, is the idea that Matthew Ashford could somehow return. Though his character of Jack Deveraux was killed in an elevator crash in 2012, fans figure that there surely could be a way to bring him back.
If Ashford were to be lured back to play Jack again, it would surely explain the reaction from those teasing these juicy DOOL spoilers. Another guess making the rounds involves James Scott, who played EJ DiMera.
Fans know that Alison Sweeney is returning briefly in the role of Sami Brady, and viewers would be thrilled to see EJ brought back, as well. At this point, however, anything about Scott or Ashford returning is pure speculation. Ultimately, the surprise returnee may well be someone far less shocking.
Everybody knows that Peter Reckell is heading back to Salem as Bo, and Stephen Nichols pops up in the coming week as Patch. In addition to Nichols, Reckell, and Sweeney, the show has already dished out details regarding the appearances by Thaao Penghlis as Andre, Martha Madison as Belle, Jason Cook as Shawn, and Tamara Braun as Ava.
While there are many people returning to Salem, a number of departures are known as well. Melissa Archer wraps up her run as Serena this week, seemingly becoming the first victim of the serial killer. As She Knows Soaps details, Daniel Cosgrove’s Aiden is leaving , and True O’Brien’s Paige is departing, as well.
Viewers can also seemingly expect to see Paul Telfer leaving his role of Xander, and there are other shifts coming. Santa Barbara actor A Martinez will pop up in Salem in September, and John-Paul Lavoisier is stepping into the role of Philip Kiriakis.
Just which Salemites will be killed in this upcoming storyline? How long will the likes of Bo, Patch, and Sami be sticking around?
Fans are worried about buzz that a legacy character may be killed off, and they’ll be anxious to learn more. Everybody will have to wait until early November to see how it’s all wrapped up as the killer storyline and 50th anniversary drama plays out on Days of Our Lives.
