Duggar Family Still Committed To Religious Beliefs

Facing one scandal after another, the Duggar family is standing firm behind their religious convictions.

Eldest son Josh Duggar has been at the center of the storm since May when allegations that he molested five girls as a teenager surfaced. More recently, it was revealed that he had been a member of adultery site Ashley Madison. People reports that despite the controversies, the Duggar family has issued a number of statements that show they are holding tight to their conservative beliefs.

“We have committed to Him that in all things – difficulties or success, good times or bad – we will purpose to bring Him honor by staying true to our faith and our family,” the Duggar family said in a statement released around the time TLC dropped their show 19 Kids and Counting.

The message was similar when the Duggar family issued a statement regarding how they were coping with the challenges in their lives after the molestation allegations were made public.

“Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God,” the Duggar family wrote. “We pray that as a people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles everyday. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so underserving.”

When news broke that Josh had been a member of the Ashley Madison site and he himself issued a confession that he had cheated on wife Anna, the family once again rallied behind their faith and issued a statement to that effect.

“When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken,” the Duggar family said in a statement released Wednesday. “As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our family.”

For his own part, Josh is acknowledging that he espoused the Christian beliefs of the Duggar family, but did not follow them. CNN reports that Josh issued a statement on his actions following the revelation that he had committed adultery.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife,” Josh said in his statement.
