Lana Del Rey Releases Two New Moody Tracks — One With The Weeknd

Lana Del Rey is set to make a comeback. After releasing the full track list from her fifth studio album, the seductive crooner is releasing some of her new songs.

Lana Del Rey released not one, but two new moody tracks for her fans to enjoy. One of the tracks is part of her collaboration with The Weeknd, off of his upcoming album, Beauty Behind the Madness.

First, we’ll talk about Del Rey’s new track “Terrence Loves You.” The seductive chanteuse told her fans that those who pre-order the Honeymoon album can have access to the song, which is one of her favorites off the album. Del Rey told X17Online that the reason she loves the song so much is because it sounds “jazzy.”

To some fans, the song may sound a little dark and depressing. Lana sings: “And I lost myself when I lost you/And I still get trashed, darling, when I hear your tunes.”

This isn’t the first song that Lana Del Rey has released. She dropped her new singles “Honeymoon,” and “High By The Beach,” which are dreamy and ethereal tunes. “Terrence Loves You,” on the other hand, is kind of a sleeper hit. Although Lana sounds beautiful singing the sad and sweet love tune, it may be boring for some of her fans who want catchy songs like “Carmen” and “Video Games.”

MTV News reported that the track is “perfect for listening to while crying in front of a vintage oscillating fan in your sparse Brooklyn apartment while possibly wearing something made of lace.” Meanwhile, Entertain This thinks Lana’s new song is more fitting for a “languorous summertime Friday afternoon.”

Fans who were disappointed by the sad and poetic ballads of “Terrence Loves You,” will be delighted by Del Rey’s upbeat collaboration with The Weeknd. The track called “Prisoner” leaked onto the internet on Friday, August 21. According to some reports, it sounds like it would fit perfectly onto The Weeknd’s House of Balloons mixtape.

Abel and Lana sing the chorus, “I’m a prisoner to my addiction. I’m addicted to a life that’s so empty and so cold.” Yeah, the lyrics sound as cold and depressing as “Terrence Loves You,” but fans will enjoy dancing along to this song.

Del Rey puts her own twist on the track by singing about Hollywood in the first two seconds of the song. She also speaks at the end of the song. However, the song fits the Weeknd’s style with the R&B singer’s signature beat and vocals. Lana’s and Abel’s vocals actually pair well together in the song, just like fans had hoped. The track is definitely sensual and seductive, just like both of the singer’s hit songs.

Although most of Del Rey’s singles have been ballads thus far, she previously revealed to Billboard that Honeymoon will follow the formula of Born to Die and the Paradise edition.

“It’s very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise. It’s growing into something I really like. I’m kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It’s been good.”

Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon will drop on September 18, while The Weeknd’s Behind the Madness is set for release on August 28. Share your thoughts on the new songs below in the comments section.
