‘Hart Of Dixie’s’ Wilson Bethel Joins ABC’s ‘Blood & Oil’
Hart of Dixie‘s Wilson Bethel has been cast in the upcoming drama Blood & Oil, set to air this fall on ABC, Deadline reports. Bethel has been cast in a recurring role in the series from writers Josh Pate (The Grave, Surface) and author Rodes Fishburne. Tony Krantz will serve as an executive producer. ABC bought the pilot project back in 2010, but opted not to pick up the drama until earlier this year after a title change.
ABC’s Blood & Oil centers on a young working-class couple who move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota. The area is booming following one of the biggest oil discoveries in American history, where they are pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to bet big and put everything on the line, including their marriage.
Wilson Bethel will join a cast that includes Gossip Girls star Chace Crawford, Red Band Society‘s Rebecca Rittenhouse, who will play the young couple, and Don Johnson, on board as the ruthless tycoon, TV Line reports. Bethel will play Finn. His character is described as a “charismatic but poor businessman, who owns a food truck, and partners up with Kess (played by Keston John) and Ada’ (played by Yaani King).” Also on board the ensemble cast is Delroy Lindo as the town’s sly sheriff, Tip Harrison, Amber Valletta as a catty socialite wife of Johnson, Scott Michael Foster as the villainous rich son, Wick, and India de Beaufort, who will play Johnson’s illegitimate biracial daughter, Lacey.
The New Hampshire native is known best for his long running role in the CW series Hart of Dixie where he played Wade Kinsella, the drama’s resident bad boy, for four seasons opposite actress Rachel Bilson. The show was cancelled back in May after failing to meet the necessary network ratings.
This is it, friends. The last hurrah. The big farewell… Tune in TONIGHT for one final hour in Bluebell, Alabama.

His additional credits include The Young and the Restless, Generation Kill, and The Perfect Student.
Blood & Oil premieres on ABC Sunday, September 27, at 9 p.m.
