Twitter Suspends Ashley Madison Leak Account That Published Names, Photos, And Employers Of Ashley Madison Users
The Twitter account that began publishing names of Ashley Madison users by state, as reported by the Inquisitr, was brutal and took no mercy on exposed Ashley Madison members. That Twitter account began publishing tweets on Wednesday, August 19, and had published nearly 40 tweets, which named Ashley Madison users that had appeared on the hacked list of names. It also published photos of at least one of the Ashley Madison users, and included their employer names and Twitter handles of those firms in many instances.
The name of the Twitter account will not be mentioned here, nor the names of anyone who appeared on the account that exposed Ashley Madison users tweet-by-tweet. There were teachers, doctors, business owners, and more that were exposed via that Twitter account. By Thursday, August 20, visits to the Twitter account were met with information that the account had been suspended, as reported by WKYT.
“Account suspended. This account has been suspended. Learn more about why Twitter suspends accounts, or return to your timeline.”
The account likely violated one of Twitter’s many reasons for suspending accounts, perhaps the “private information” rule.
“You may not publish or post other people’s private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission. You may not post intimate photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent.”
Or, the Twitter account publishing names and employers from the Ashley Madison hacking might’ve violated their “targeted abuse” rule. Either way, the account likely received plenty of violation reports from those who appeared on the Twitter account during its short-lived 24-hour life.
“You may not engage in targeted abuse or harassment.”
However, chasing down those sites that expose those found on the Ashley Madison hacked list seems like trying to put out multiple fires that keep popping up. According to the New York Post, with big names like Vatican workers, New York bureaucrats, and at least one English Parliamentarian and reality TV star appearing on the list, it seems the fallout from the Ashley Madison hacking will go on for quite some time.
There are certainly loads of new tweets about the Ashley Madison hacking — with news articles and personal thoughts — appearing under a search for Ashley Madison news on Twitter by the second. The proliferation of so many tweets proves the public fascination with adultery.
