Maisie Williams’ Sex Scene: ‘The Falling’ Proved To Be Awkward For The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Actress
Maisie Williams’ sex scene in The Falling was “awkward,” the actress admits. While most female characters in Game of Thrones appear to be fated to at least a nude scene, Maisie’s first time was actually on the big screen.
Having made her debut on YouTube much like Justin Bieber, Williams has come a long way in a short period of time. She has been a series regular on the mega popular Game of Thrones as Arya Stark, and is set to play what is allegedly a completely new character on BBC‘s long-running series Doctor Who. The Falling is among her cinematic appearances and in the film, Maisie plays the role of Lydia, who loses her virginity in the story.
Much like Lydia, Maisie Williams was nervous about her sex scene in The Falling, telling the press that she wanted to actually faint when the scene came up.
“It was extremely awkward! But [co-star] Joe [Cole] was very sensitive to the fact that I had never done a scene like this before, and it was great to work with someone who was so considerate of that.
“We went out for a couple of lunches and stuff just to get to know each other, and we had days of rehearsal where we’d get to know our characters and spend a couple of hours with each other,’ she added.
“So I knew him quite well, and we got along quite well. It all paid off in the end.”
In The Falling, Catholic school girls are mysteriously overcome by fainting spells. The main characters are Lydia and Abbie, best friends dealing with a recent tragedy in the school.
If Maisie Williams’ sex scene in The Falling had been planned directly after her character fainted, it would have made it far more awkward and possibly even protested. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Maisie explained how everybody had to practice for the film’s epidemic.
“During shooting, we all lived in a house together. We were sharing rooms and sharing beds, and we’d have heart-to-heart talks all the time.
“We’d also have evenings where we’d practice our fainting, which was pretty mental. Just falling on the floor, learning how to fall without injuring yourself.
“It’s a great thing to take with me to use in other projects, in my stunt training. It’s like stop, drop, and roll.”
