Earlier this week a story broke that Mitt Romney has forcibly shaved a classmates head in high school because he presumed that the man was gay. Well, it looks like the potential GOP candidate isn’t the only high-profile politician with a bullying past. According to several right leaning pundits, President Obama was a bully too.
The revelation about Obama’s bully past comes from an excerpt in the President’s memoir, “Dreams from My Father.” A passage in the book describes a situation in grade school when Obama was teased about dating one of his classmates.
Fox News Host Sean Hannity said :
“We have uncovered somebody who has actually admitted to engaging in real inappropriate behavior as a youth.”
Here’s an excerpt from the book:
“‘She’s not my g-girlfriend,’ I stammered. I looked to Coretta for some assistance, but she just stood there looking down at the ground. ‘Coretta’s got a boyfriend! Why don’t you kiss her, mister boyfriend?’ I’m not her boyfriend!’ I shouted. I ran up to Coretta and gave her a slight shove; she staggered back and looked up at me, but still said nothing. ‘Leave me alone!’ I shouted again. And suddenly Coretta was running, faster and faster, until she disappeared from sight.”
The incident has been played up and compared to Romney’s act of bullying. Breitbart.com used the headline: “Does WaPo know Obama shoved a little girl?”
Do you think the story about President Obama pushing a little girl (while he was a little boy) is comparable to Mitt Romney shaving someone’s head?
Romney has come out to apologize for the incident saying that he did some “stupid things” in his past and that he was sorry.
“I did some stupid things in high school… If I hurt anyone I would be very sorry for it and apologize for it.”
Do you think the two stories are comparable? Do you think either story is relevant to the 2012 election?
