Julianne Hough Engaged: ‘DWTS’ Judge, Pro Hockey Player To Tie The Knot

Julianne Hough is engaged! The Dancing With The Stars judge announced this week on social media that she is engaged to her boyfriend of almost two years, professional hockey player Brooks Laich, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Hough, 27, posted her engagement on Instagram Tuesday, showing her and her main squeeze in a cute embrace.

“We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love”

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich met in late 2013, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. Neither knew who the other person was, says Laich.

“To be honest, I had never seen an episode of Dancing With The Stars. But in my defense, she had never seen a Caps game either until she met [our mutual friend] Teddy.”

Julianne may never take up hockey, but in a recent interview, she opened up about how her boyfriend has taken an interest in dancing since their relationship began.

“He wants to dance so bad and literally want me to teach him every single day so while we’re cooking in the kitchen we’ll be dancing around with music playing. I have an obsession with table decorations so I always have placemats and a candle lit and flowers just to make the mood like a date. And then we’ll have dinner and just chill — sometimes we’ll watch a movie or keep dancing.”

And while Julianne is helping Brooks with dancing, Brooks is helping Julianne with accepting her self-image, says MSN.

“My boyfriend tells me all the time, ‘Why is that whenever you take a picture and look at you, you want to take another one? Can’t you just be happy with the actual picture where we’re together?’ So I’ve now had to coach myself to look at a picture and not say, ‘Do I look good in it?’ but, ‘That’s a great picture, overall.’ “

This is not the first long-term relationship for Julianne Hough. She was also in a three-year relationship with Ryan Seacrest. In August, 2014, she explained why it didn’t work out.

“There was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn’t want to get hurt… And I didn’t say what was on my mind because I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect.”

As of this post, Julianne Hough has not publicly announced a wedding date.
