As Soap Opera Digest details, Freddie Smith’s last day in the role of Sonny Kiriakis airs on Tuesday. The actor has been in the role for four years, and he indicates that it was very emotional to say goodbye to everybody.
Days of Our Lives spoilers detail that Sonny will leave Salem to take a job in Europe that Victor offers him. Smith teases that Sonny will get to share key moments with all of those important to him as he bids farewell. How will Paul and Will handle Sonny’s departure?
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Paul will be upset when he learns that Sonny is leaving Salem. However, it’s Will who seemingly takes it the roughest. There is said to be a tear-filled conversation between the two men, as Will begs Sonny to stick around. However, ultimately, Sonny packs his bags and hops on a plane.
What will Horton do in the wake of Sonny’s exit? There had been rumors floating around that Guy Wilson was leaving the role of Will as well. However, Wilson took to his Twitter recently to deny that is the case. When a follower said she hoped that Guy wasn’t leaving, as she’d miss him, he replied and said he’s not going anywhere.
The news of Smith’s departure broke via Serial Scoop in April. It seems that Freddie is the one who made the choice to leave the show, and the door is being left open for him to potentially return down the road. As many of Smith’s fans know, the past year has been a difficult one personally for the actor.
Despite his off-screen challenges, Smith received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination this year for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. He has indicated that he has some film work lined up, and fans hope to see him on screens in some fashion again soon. Though some wonder if the show will recast the role of Sonny Kiriakis, at this point, there’s no word that’s going to happen.
Days of Our Lives spoilers have teased that there is a lot of drama set to begin playing out, with a serial killer about to hit Salem. The show’s 50th anniversary is coming in November, and many familiar faces will be returning to the show to take part in the killer storyline and anniversary celebration.
