Milwaukee Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 5-Year-Old Boy In Walgreens Restroom
A Milwaukee man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old boy in a Walgreens restroom on August 9.
The Associated Press reports that 29-year-old Lamar Blachmer was charged with first degree sexual of assault of a child after the Milwaukee man allegedly followed the boy into a Walgreens bathroom and assaulted the boy while his mother waited outside.
According to a criminal complaint reported by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the woman was shopping with her 5-year-old son at the Walgreens located at 76th and Capitol in Milwaukee when the boy had to use the restroom. When the mother realized the women’s restroom was out of order, she sent her son into the men’s room alone while she waited for him outside.
In the complaint, the boy says 29-year-old Lamar Blachmer of Milwaukee entered his stall and sexually assaulted him.
The 5-year-old boy emerged from the restroom and his mother noticed “a stunned look on his face.” The boy immediately told his mother what the Milwaukee man had done and the mother notified a Walgreens employee. The mother and the employee followed Blachmer toward the front of the store.
When security tried to stop Blachmer, he broke free and fled the scene.
Store surveillance was able to retrace photos of the Milwaukee man and with the help of the public, he was arrested by Milwaukee police on August 12 after someone who knew the man called police. The boy and the Walgreens employee were able to pick Blacher out of a photographic lineup.
The complaint states that Blachmer admitted to “helping the boy pull his pants down” while inside the Walgreens bathroom and he “incidentally touched” the boy inappropriately.
Blachmer later confessed to grabbing the boy’s arms and sexually assaulting him. Upon further questioning, Blachmer also admitted that he followed the boy into the men’s restroom.
While in court, the prosecutor, Michael Thurston, said the Milwaukee man was a threat to the community.
“It’s clear at this point that the defendant is a public safety concern. He is a danger to community spaces and he has a significant amount of time being faced with this case.”
The Milwaukee man has been charged with one felony count of first degree sexual assault of a child. If found guilty, he faces up to 60 years in prison.
