With American Horror Story gearing up for its new season, American Horror Story: Hotel fans can expect a number of exciting surprises for the upcoming season. In addition to the new setting, some more details have surfaced concerning the new characters that are set to be included in the horror series.
With that in mind, the new season will include a character based on a real life serial killer, named Aileen Wuornos, who was most recently portrayed by Charlize Theron in a 2004 film. According to CNN , Lily Rabe will be returning to the show to play the notorious murderer who was actually charged and convicted for no less than six murders.
As many fans will remember, Rabe has made an appearance in all the past seasons of American Horror Story . In the first season she portrayed the ghost and crazy mother, Nora Montgomery, and in the second she was Sister Mary Eunice. In the third season she was the witch and hippie Misty Day, while in the most recent season, Freak Show , her past character in Asylum made a brief appearance in a flashback with Naomi Grossman’s Pepper.
With her making only a short appearance in last year’s season, it is definitely good to see Rabe back in a more substantial role, though it might only last for a couple of Halloween episodes. Along with her return to American Horror Story , Rabe has a role in ABC’s The Whispers .
In addition to Rabe as Wuornos, Lady Gaga is set to play the owner of the scary hotel and will star alongside Matt Bomer ( White Collar ) and Max Greenfield ( New Girl ).
As per usual, a number of former cast members will be included in the new series, including Denis O’Hare. O’Hare will be playing Elizabeth Taylor in Hotel , though not the real Elizabeth Taylor.
“I play Liz Taylor, movie icon,” the actor explained during the Television Critic’s Association’s event. “I’m not actually playing Elizabeth Taylor but I’m playing a person who is inspired by the awesomeness of Butterfield Eight and Cleopatra , and eye makeup like that. I shaved my head for the part, and other body parts.”
Other stars that are set to return in the anthology series include Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Chloe Sevigny, and Sarah Paulson. Other stars include Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, and Cheyenne Jackson.
American Horror Story: Hotel is set to air in October on FX.
