‘Scream Queens’ Adds Philip Casnoff, Plus Ariana Grande Offers First Look At Entire Cast
New details have surfaced concerning the first season of the upcoming horror comedy, Scream Queens. In addition to exciting new casting details, Ariana Grande, who is set to play Chanel #2 in the series, recently posted an image to her Instagram of the entire cast (above).
The photo features the cast members of the new series posing in front of some large bloody letters for the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. “#september #screamQueens,” Grande wrote with the image, which includes the likes of Emma Roberts (Chanel Oberlin), Nick Jonas (Boone), Keke Palmer (Zayday Williams), Jaime Lee Curtis (Cathy Munsch), and a few others, all posing in full character.
Along with the new promo photo, Entertainment Weekly is reporting on another new cast member that is set to join the show. With that in mind, Philip Casnoff will be playing Curtis’ husband when the new horror series hits televisions in the fall.
While little details are known about his recurring role, it has been revealed that Casnoff’s character ends up breaking-up with Munsch after he falls for a young woman, Feather. Feather is set to be portrayed by Tavi Gavinson.
Casnoff’s part in Scream Queens isn’t his first role in a television series. The actor played Frank Sinatra in a 1992 show titled Sinatra, for which he earned a nomination for a Golden Globe. He has also appeared in a number of other series, including Oz, Strong Medicine, Dollhouse, and NCIS.
In addition to his past television experience, Casnoff has played in a number of Broadway roles. His resume on the prestigious stage includes parts in Chess, Shogun: The Musical, and Chicago. Given his talents both in stage productions and in television, his addition to Scream Queens is sure to add an interesting element to the horror comedy.
The new series centers around a group of sorority girls who are forced to deal with a number of murders on their campus, all at the hands of a mysterious serial killer. The show was created by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan.
Scream Queens stars Curtis, Roberts, Lea Michele (Hester “Neckbrace”), Jonas, Abigail Breslin (Chanel #5), Nasim Pedrad (Gigi), Niecy Nash (Denise), Oliver Hudson (Wes Gardner), Grande, and Billie Lourd (Chanel #3). Recurring roles on the show include Casnoff, Gevinson, Charisma Carpenter (Chanel #2), and Roger Bart (Chanel #2’s father).
The first season of Scream Queens is scheduled to premiere September 22 on Fox.
