Margaret Cho Divorcing: Comedian Divorces Al Ridenour After 11 Years Of Marriage
Margaret Cho is divorcing her husband of 11 years Al Ridenour.
The comedian and artist announced their separation last December, but Cho actually just filed for divorce on Wednesday, August 12, according to People Magazine. The divorce papers were filed in Los Angeles, California, with the Drop Dead Diva actress citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Since they decided to get married in 2003, Cho’s and Ridenour’s relationship was everything but traditional. In 2013, Cho spoke to The Real, explaining their ideas of having an “open relationship.”
“I’m married to a man but I’m bisexual so I like both. We got together because…we both have this [idea], ‘I just don’t want to have sex with the same person my whole life. That’s just gross,'” she said at the time.

“I think when you have an open relationship you have to have boundaries, but ultimately, you want emotional monogamy with somebody no matter what,” she explained during an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? in January 2014. “I don’t really think about it more than that, it’s just family.”
Cho even admitted that her former husband had other women in the home when she was there, but it didn’t make her jealous.

“We have a really big house,” she explained. “It’s kind of like if we wanna have that, it’s like, ‘You can stay on your side or I’ll stay on my side.’ When I see her, I’ll make her dinner…. Oh yeah. I’ve definitely been in the house.”
The court documents stated that Cho and Ridenour, who have no children together, have been legally separated since September 2014, although they didn’t announce their separation until December.
“It’s been really, really hard for her,” a source close to the comedian said. “She’s going through a really rough time and she’s really sad about it.”

The All-American Girl star will be embarking on her Psycho Tour that will run through mid-November in the United States before she heads off to Europe. The European leg of the tour includes five shows in London before wrapping up on December 21 in Amsterdam, according to the Daily Mail.
