Robin Thicke Crushes Rumors That He’s Still Begging For Ex-Wife Paula’s Attention In New Song ‘Back Together’
Robin Thicke’s highly laughed-at previous album was the result of poor marital actions, which he tried to resolve through song. Now, the artist is back with a new song, which seems like it’s on the same subject: former wife Paula Patton. Crushing the rumor that his new song “Back Together,” is not a continuance of begging for his wife to return, Thicke told Good Morning America the real reason he chose the song.
“Actually I didn’t write this song so I can’t take credit for the meaning. I just heard this idea of getting back together and getting yourself back together, and what I was going through at the time I really really related to that and connected to it. It’s more about the theme of getting yourself back together with love and partnership.”
Despite Thicke ending the rumors, the “Get Her Back,” singer is not completely over losing his wife. In his interview, Robin openly admits that his family was the inspiration for his new work and how a focus on family saw him through a tough divorce.
“I spent so much time with my son and that just made me realize what’s most important.”
Robin Thicke is now at a new point in his career where he has hired songwriters and producers to help him create the work that will make his future career. Previously, the singer handled things like songwriting and producing all on his own. He attributes this new decision to family influence as well.
“I started songwriting and producing and singing professionally when I was 16 and I never really stopped until last year. Then I took some time off to just be with my son and my family and it helps you gain perspective on what’s important in life. I just finally took a few months off or more and spent a lot of time with my parents even, talking with them, getting their advice. I always kind of grew up thinking I knew what I was doing and then when you have some tough times, you call on your parents, you call on your grandfather for advice.”
Thanks to his grandfather, Robin Thicke now knows what he’s doing and his new song “Back Together,” may not be for Paula Patton at all. Instead, it appears that Robin’s song is for his new girlfriend, April Geary Love.
