Vidal Sassoon Dead at 84
There’s some sad news out of the hair world today. Vidal Sassoon, the hair stylist and fashion icon was found dead at his Mulholland Drive residency today, according to authorities. He was 84.
According to reports, Sassoon allegedly died of an “unspecified illness” and it is said that all of his family members were at his side. No further details about the mysterious illness that plagued Sassoon were available. However last year the icon was said to be fighting an illness with leukemia after he was diagnosed in 2009 with blood cancer.
Throughout his iconic career, Sassoon was the sole voice and influence behind the hair care product and fashion industry, and was even the subject of a 2010 documentary, about “how one man changed the world with a pair of scissors.” According to the documentary Vidal Sassoon started his career at the young age of 14, and opened his own salon in London in 1954. His most recognizable work was featured on actress Mia Farrow, having given her an infamous short cut for the horror film Rosemary’s Baby.
Vidal Sassoon captured the many hearts of aspiring artists in the fashion and icon world, as well as women. Sassoon married four times, and has four children, two daughters and two sons with his second wife, actress Beverly Adams who passed away from a drug overdose in 2002. In 1992 Sassoon married his fourth and final wife, Rhonda who he described as his “rock” through his recent bouts with his illness.
His legacy is sure to live on in both the fashion and hair stylist industry.
