One Direction fans are renowned for their support for the boy band. One Direction fans are famed for their loyalty dedication and downright obsession with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. On occasion One Direction, fans have strayed into uncomfortable and sometimes downright creepy territory. We see One Direction fans camp outside hotels for days on end hoping for a glimpse of their heroes. In recent weeks Niall Horan has criticized One Direction fans for chasing the bands cars at high speed down highways putting the lives of all concerned at risk.
On the other side of the coin, One Direction fans have proven themselves incredibly generous over and over again by stepping up to the mark to support a wide range of charitable causes supported by the band.
In recent times, we have seen One Directions fans, known as Directioners, get involved in numerous spats with the fans of other artists. In recent weeks Billboard has been running a fun “fan army face-off” pitting “fandoms” against each other in a bid to identify the most popular . Fans in four musical genres, pop, K-pop, rock and R&B/Hip-hop were asked to vote for their favorites in a series of one V one face-offs, the winner each time progressing to face a new opponent in the next round.
In the pop category the One Direction fandom saw off supporters of the likes of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry to be the most popular in that category. The One Direction fandom then came up against fans of k-pop band T-Ara, known as Queens.
That is where it all went horribly wrong for One Direction fans. Whilst Directioners voted for One Direction almost 1.2 million times they were soundly thrashed by the Queens who voted for the six piece Korean girl group almost 1.8 million times. As a result the Queens took to twitter in celebration with the hashtag #DirectionersFuneral, presumably to suggest that the One Direction fandom was dead.
One Direction fans do not take defeat lying down. According to Kpopstarz One Direction fans have written to Billboard suggesting that the “Queens” cheated by using automated voting “bots” and hacking methods to win the face-off.
Directioners have also gone to Twitter in their droves to hijack the hashtag #DirectionersFuneral trending it with almost 800,000 tweets slaying their rivals.

The fans of T-ara may have won the fan face-off but they may have bitten off more than they can chew when it comes to a twitter war with One Direction fans.
