‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Photos And What Made J.J. Abrams Join Franchise

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens photos have surfaced and, despite the disappointment that we won’t get another trailer until the fall, we have some interesting things to ponder. One of them is what exactly made director J.J. Abrams join the franchise.

First, we have some new, exciting Star Wars: The Force Awakens photos of one of our villains, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), the man dressed in black who gets to use that new cross lightsaber to chase the good guys. Not much is known about him, but in this new photo — courtesy of Entertainment Weekly’s Fall Movie Preview issue — he shows more of his dark side and it is awesome.

Inside the exclusive issue, we see even more new Star Wars: The Force Awakens photos showing newcomers Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who at some point meet up with original Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and his loyal pal, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and end up on the legendary Millennium Falcon.

We also get a better look at the rest of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens baddies in these new photos. Not only Kylo Ren is featured, but General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and the chrome-armored officer hunting Finn, Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). Take a look at the rest of the cool pictures, which also give us a glimpse at the familiar droids from the Star Wars original trilogy: R2D2 (Kenny Baker) and C3PO (Anthony Daniels).

One of the most interesting things revealed in the body of the EW issue by Anthony Breznican is why J.J. Abrams finally joined the legendary franchise. It is well documented by the director himself that he had to be convinced to come on board, but what really made him do it?

For the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director it was this question. Who is Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)? Is he who we think he is? A kid who loses his innocence when his aunt and uncle are brutally murdered by the Empire in A New Hope, or is he something else? We will have to wait for the magazine to come out to get the answers to these questions.

What do you think about the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens photos?
