Cassidy Gifford Calls Frank Gifford Her ‘Best Friend,’ Recalls Kathie Lee’s Embarrassing Moment
Cassidy Gifford gave a loving tribute to her famous dad Frank Gifford, who passed away at his Connecticut home on Sunday, August 9.
Frank Gifford is known to many as a famous sports broadcaster, Hall of Fame star, and football player. But for his daughter Cassidy Gifford, he’s her father and her “best friend.”
A day after Gifford died at the age of 84, his daughter took to Instagram to pay tribute to her beloved father. Cassidy shared a throwback photo of herself on Frank’s shoulders. She also thanked her fans for their support during this difficult time.
“Very few people are blessed enough to call their father a legend, and an even smaller number are able to share that notion with the rest of the world. Today of all days I can genuinely say I am humbled by the outpour of love and support my family has received.”
The 22-year-old actress and model gave a heartwarming online tribute to her father. Gifford also included a passage from the Bible.
“Yesterday, I lost my best friend…His kindness was infectious, and his grace, beyond compare.. And despite the worldly passing of an incredible man, I undoubtedly know heaven gained one stud of an angel.”
“Phillipians 4:13 has never run so true.. You were an unparalleled Giant in all sense of the word, Dad.. So keep doin’ you up there, because no one does it better, and no one ever will.”
Frank is also survived by his 25-year-old son Cody with Kathie Lee. The former New York Giants player also has three other children, Jeff, Kylie, and Victoria, from a previous marriage.
Gifford’s busy career kept him away from his children for most of their childhood. During a 2001 interview with E! News, he explained how he made up for lost time with both Cassidy and Cody.
“I raised a family I hardly knew and they’re my best friends now but I hardly knew them when I was working, playing football and later into television. Now I know pretty much all of Cody’s classmates and Cassidy’s and I love the carpool line. I’m having a lot of fun with that. We’re having a great time with it.”
Cassidy Gifford has been making a name for herself since starring in the hit horror movie The Gallows. Last month at the movie premiere, she claimed that Kathie Lee often embarrasses her when she hosts the Today show.
Cassidy responded with a laugh, “Oh my god, don’t get me started! I can’t even watch the show anymore.”
But the one time that Cassidy was really embarrassed was when her mother gave out her phone number on national TV.
“One time I called her, and she just happened to have her phone for a Today show segment and held it up and was like, ‘Oh, Cassidy’s calling me!’ She opens up her old, little, dinosaur flip phone, and of course the cameras zoom in, and there was my number! All of a sudden I had hundreds of creepy texts. Like, ‘Really, Mom?!'”
The Giffords have asked both fans and viewers to donate to family’s charity Cassidy’s Place. Learn more about the organization by clicking here.
