Liam Payne Claims One Direction Needs A Break, Is He Going Solo?

One Direction has been going through a lot of changes lately. After Zayn Malik shocked fans by leaving One Direction, Louis Tomlinson then announced that he’s going to be a father, which was pretty surprising to the rest of the guys. Now, One Direction fans could be shaken up once again because Liam Payne says the band needs to take a break.

In an interview with Free Radio, Liam Payne confessed that the boys of One Direction have been going strong for too long and may take a hiatus after their fifth album drops.

“You know, I think everyone needs a little bit of a break now, and a sit down and a stop, to kind of take in all the great things that’ve happened,” Liam Payne said.

The mention of a break may fill One Direction fans with dread because there have been many rumors circling the internet that the fifth album will be the last, especially since accompanying rumors claim Harry Styles is going solo like Zayn Malik. But Liam Payne assured that One Direction is here to stay, at least for a little while. He responded to the rumors while speaking to BANG Showbiz.

“We won’t be going anywhere for a while, so I don’t know where that’s brewed from.”

But why is Liam Payne the one talking about One Direction taking a break? Could it be that he too is considering going solo?

According to Hollywood Life, Liam is currently writing songs on the side with the help of his girlfriend, Sophia Smith. Payne spoke to Jo Parkerson on Magic Radio about the process of songwriting. But mostly, Liam Payne seems to be writing music for artists besides himself. He claims he enjoys “writing songs for different artists,” and adds, “crafting a song is a really beautiful thing to do.”

But Liam isn’t writing completely alone. “I sit down and do it with my girlfriend and with a couple lads that I know,” he said.

Despite the pleasure he gets from working on material outside of One Direction, Liam Payne insists that he “love[s] being in the band.” So, for now, One Direction fans can rest easy. They may take a short break, but at least the fifth album is still on the way.
