Amy Duggar Holds Bridal Shower At Dillard’s Department Store
Amy Duggar won’t see her wedding televised like some of her cousins, but the aspiring musician is still getting star treatment as she prepares for her big day.
Us Weekly reports that after Amy Duggar registered at Dillard’s, the department store chain reached out to her, offering to host a bridal shower in her honor. The event happened Saturday, August 8 at the Fayetteville, Arkansas Dillard’s, with the store hosting 300 guests, including Amy Duggar and her fiancé, Dillon King.
“We gave them a list of people and they were like, ‘The more the merrier,’ ” Amy Duggar said. “It is stress free. It was nice I didn’t have to give out invitations or any of that. They did all that.”
According to Us Weekly, the shower Saturday was only the first of three parties planned for Amy Duggar, who is the niece of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
Us Weekly reports that Amy Duggar is now deeply in love with her fiancé, but it was not a case of love at first sight.
“When I first met him, he insulted me. It was when ruffles were really in style and he’s like, ‘What the heck are you wearing?’ So we just started laughing that night and hanging out. I was like, ‘Well, if he’s going to be that honest I might as well keep him around,’ ” Amy Duggar said. “I had no intention of ever dating him. I never thought he was attractive. Never flirted with him. Never kissed him. Nothing! Until one night all of our friends went camping and I kind of looked at him different.”
Amy Duggar also said that she had been consulting with her famous family for advice on the upcoming nuptials. She has been FaceTiming with cousin Jill Duggar-Dillard who has been out of the country on a mission trip, and got some direction from Jim Bob Duggar, who talked her out of a courthouse wedding.
“Uncle Jim Bob is more traditional than I am and he was just like, ‘Now, Amy, a wedding is all about family and friends and coming together,” Amy Duggar said, adding: “I’m an only child so my mom was like, ‘You have to have a wedding, I have to cry at your wedding. It’s a thing!’ ”
The Daily Mail reports that although the couple only announced their engagement last month, the wedding is planned for September 6.
According to the Daily Mail, the event was not kept a secret, and Amy Duggar even invited fans to come by and share the cake, a picture of which she posted on her Instagram account.
