Seth Rogan, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Star In ‘The Night Before’
Seth Rogan knows how to take a time-honored tradition and turn it on its head for raunchy comedic pleasure.
This year, Seth is taking aim at Christmas in the Thanksgiving Day weekend release of The Night Before. The trailer for the new movie dropped this week to kick-off promotion of the film.
Seth Rogan – the Neighbors star – is joining forces with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie in this debauchery-filled romp through New York City the night before Christmas. As IMDB reports, the storyline for this raucous film is a final hurrah for three friends who have been gathering every Christmas Eve since the passing of one of the friend’s parents. With Mackey’s character gaining notoriety and Seth Rogen’s character married with a baby on the way, the friends are gathering to make the most of a night filled with religious experiences and drugs.
This movie is directed and written by Jonathan Levin, who has worked with Seth before in the movie 50/50. Levin is also known for writing and directorial duties on the 2013 comedy Warm Bodies. With Warm Bodies, Levin told IFC that Seth Rogen became his “safety net” as the actor privately screened and provided suggestions on how to make and improve the movie.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who starred in Looper and Don Jon, has worked with Seth on the big screen before. According to IMDB, Seth Rogan appeared in common movies The Interview and 50/50 with Gordon-Levitt.
Anthony Mackie hasn’t appeared alongside Rogan in a film before. However, Mackie – who’s appeared as Falcon on Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron this year – looks to be a natural fit with Seth. Prior to The Night Before, fans can catch him in Our Brand Is Crisis and Love the Coopers.
Time reported that the new Seth Rogen Christmas romp is filled with cameo appearances, with Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Mindy Kaling, and Lizzy Caplan appearing alongside the three main actors.
Rogen is extremely busy these days. In addition to The Night Before, fans can see Seth in upcoming films Zeroville (with James Franco, Megan Fox, and Will Ferrell) and Steve Jobs. The latter is set to open in theaters on October 9, 2015, and stars Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman. According to IMDB, Seth Rogen is also set to voice characters in two upcoming films: Kung Fu Panda 3 and B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
Movie News Guide has reported that the release of the trailer isn’t the only update for this movie, as Columbia Pictures also oversaw the name change of the movie starring Rogen and company. Formerly, it was only known as X-Mas.
