Fans can watch the Liverpool vs. Stoke City football match live online and see which team can start out the Premier League season on the right foot.
The teams kick off Sunday at 4 p.m. from Britannia Stadium.
For Liverpool, the match is a chance to erase memories from last year’s drubbing at the hands of Stoke City, who scored five goals in the first 45 minutes en route to a 6-1 blowout.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said last year’s big loss is good motivation to start out the new season strong, as he told reports on Friday, via the Guardian .
“When the fixture came out, I felt we couldn’t have had a better one to be honest. I think lots of people have looked at it wondering whether we would have been better going back later but for me it was the perfect fixture and I was happy when it came out.
“The reaction [to the 6-1 loss] over the course of the summer has been terrific and it gives us real motivation to start the season well.”
Those who watch the Liverpool vs. Stoke City match will see two teams with hopes of finishing in the top of the Premier League standings. Stoke City was on the edge of contention last season, finishing ninth and looking to a few big-name transfers to break through into the top of the standings this year. The team added keeper Shay Given from Aston Villa and forward Joselu.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes said he’s not expecting anything like last year’s blowout.
“It was certainly a blot on their copybook and something they will want to address. I’ve heard their players saying that it’s something they don’t want to happen again – but we’ll have something to say about it as well.
“It’s the beginning of the new season and expectation and hopes are really high for everybody, and no less so than a club of the stature of Liverpool. I don’t think too many of us feel that what happened in that game will be repeated.
“On the day we would have made it very difficult for any club. Okay, it reflected badly on Liverpool because they were the ones in the firing line. It was unfortunate for them that they copped for it, if you excuse the pun.”
