With AMC’s newest zombies series, Fear the Walking Dead , less than 20 days away, it’s time for another sneak peek video . This one gets behind the scenes as well as showing some new, never-before-seen footage.
Be warned: There are potential spoilers contained within this article about who may be bitten, so please proceed with caution.
Showrunner Dave Erickson and Anne Gale Hurd discussed Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) from The Walking Dead and how during the start of that series, fans never got to see how the zombie apocalypse unfolded. With Season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead , that is exactly what fans will get. As reported earlier, Season 1 will run along approximately three weeks of time frame, which means Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead will also show the zombie apocalypse unfurling as well, since the general consensus by the Walking Dead crew is that Rick Grimes was in a coma for roughly four to five weeks .
Spliced in as Erickson and Hurd are discussing Fear The Walking Dead’s timeline are images showing Nick (Frank Dillane) and his very first encounter with the undead — or the “ infected ” as they will be known as in Season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead .
Hurd also discusses how the family involved in Fear the Walking Dead are “families we don’t normally get to see.” They are just ordinary people going about their ordinary lives with no real skills that will help them during the zombie apocalypse. This journey, as a result, will be interesting to find out just how sometimes not being prepared for the end times is the very thing that makes you survive.
Kim Dickens, who plays Madison Clark in Fear the Walking Dead , describes her character as “bada**,” which will be a welcome change from the original matriarchal figure in its companion show, Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies). While she may be better during the apocalypse than Lori ever was, the family as a whole is being described as “ highly dysfunctional .” Executive producer Dave Alpert even goes as far to say they are a family “on the brink of falling apart.”
“They are barely keeping things together as it is now and we add the apocalypse.”
Also added to this video is the suggestion of the very first zombie bite to one of the core cast members of Fear the Walking Dead . Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Madison step out of their car to help a victim. It is very obvious to the audience that he is one of the infected, however, Madison reached out to help him, and it appears the person lunges at her, potentially nipping her on the arm. Also of concern is the fact Madison later appears to be huddled over Nick. She appears to be hugging him and crying. Could Nick also be a victim so soon? You can watch the full sneak peek video and decide for yourself. If you are region coded (ie. Australia), you can view a code-free version of this video here.
Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on Sunday August 23 on AMC. It will screen directly after a Talking Dead special and the conclusion of The Walking Dead marathon .
