‘Pretty Little Liars’ Reveals Charles And It Is Not Who You Think! [Video]
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Pretty Little Liars.
Pretty Little Liars is definitely pushing fans to the edge with the “who is Charles?” suspense, but it would seem that PLL fans will get the answer to that question when the Pretty Little Liars summer finale airs next week. In the meantime, PLL fans are not left to speculate unfettered. Some unlikely allies are coming forward to drop enticing teasers regarding the identity of Charles.
Janel Parrish, A.K.A. Mona Vanderwaal, told E! News that the summer finale of Pretty Little Liars is the “most exciting” episode out of the entire six-year run of the show. Janel also knows who Charles is and, while she’s not quite willing to ruin the surprise for PLL fans, she was more than eager to share her own reaction to the news.
“My jaw was on the floor. I found out who A was and I was shocked…then they give all the answers about why A did what A did and how A did what they did and my mind was like, ‘Whoa, finally!’ It was amazing.”

The biggest theory right now is that Wren is A and that’s something Julian Morris (Wren) finds exciting. Morris did reveal that Wren is coming back to Pretty Little Liars, though he wouldn’t spill too many details. It could be that Julian is speaking in tongues, because, whoever A is, that actor already knows it. After all, Pretty Little Liars has finished filming.
“I think whoever is the big villain, it’s this iconic character in an iconic show, so I think whoever does end up [being ‘A’] — whether it’s me or not — it’d be something amazing to play,” Julian said. “Having spoken to [creator Marlene King] about it, I know Marlene’s got a really incredible plan. The genius of Marlene is that she knows exactly what she’s doing. She’s got a grand master plan in her head.”
Discovering the identity of A won’t mean the end of Pretty Little Liars for PLL fans, because there’s much more to do, as Ms. Parrish revealed with her talk of the five-year time jump. This week’s episode already gave PLL fans a glimpse of what they can expect, when Pretty Little Liars picks up with that time jump. Ezra in Thailand. Hanna and Caleb in the Big Apple. Aria in Los Angeles. And Mona?
“She’s still Mona, really,” Parrish teases. “They’re all dealing with post-traumatic stress from what they went through with A, but they’ve been living in a A-free life for five years and that’s wonderful.”
An A-free life makes it seem like the stalking and harassment is over for the girls. They can make plans…but, wait! Parrish adds that the peace will be short-lived.
“[The girls] are all finally coming back together to Rosewood per Alison’s request and they will take a new troubling adventure from there.”
The Pretty Little Liars summer finale, titled “Game Over, Charles,” will air Tuesday, August 11, on ABC Family.
